If you have not installed a plug-in in Lightroom, here are some notes to help. These notes are for Windows.
First you need somewhere to store the plug-in. Create a folder under Documents named LRPlugins (or something similar).
Next unzip the plug-in so the LRHazeFilters.lrplugin folder is created in LRPlugins, and the files Info.lua, LRHaze.lua, LRFilters.lua and LRHazeFiltersInfo.lua are in the LRHazeFilters.lrplugin folder. The location can be changed but you must have a folder named LRHazeFilters.lrplugin containing the four .lua files.
Now open Lightroom, click on the File menu and select Plug-in Manager… – the “Lightroom Plug-in Manager” window should open. Click the Add button at the lower left and navigate to the LRPlugins folder, select the LRHazeFilters.lrplugin folder and click the Select Folder button.
The plug-in should be installed and added to the list of installed plug-ins on the left of the Plug-in Manager window. The main part of the Plug-in Manager window shows details of the selected plug-in and should show “Status: This plug-in is enabled.”

That would be nice, but I don’t think that there is any way for a plug-in to add to the panel of controls. If anyone knows how to do this please share the knowledge…

I am using LR 6.0.1 but it says I must have at least LR 6.1 only i can use the plug in. So you are able to use the dehaze function?

LR 6.0.1 did not contain the dehaze function, so the plugin can not work on that version. I would suggest that you install the free upgrade to LR 6.6 for all the bug fixes and to get dehaze.

Can I just buy LR6 (does it say 6.0 or 6.1 on the box?) and upgrade to the latest version to get the dehaze function to work?

If you have Lightroom 6 installed click Help [menu] – Updates … That should download and install the latest update (currently 6.13).
If that does not work you can download updates manually from https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html (you need to click on “Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6” to expand it to down all the Mac and Windows updates.
If you do not own Lightroom and are trying to buy it try reading this https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2375733 (Adobe was already making it difficult to buy Lr 6 and I think it got worse with Lr Classic CC)

Lazarus Long’s issue was that the plugin was not being in a folder named “LRHaze.lrplugin”. With the folder name corrected I understand that it is now working.

Plugin Manager tells me that it is installed but not working–“Status: This plug-in is malfunctioning and can not be used.” I just installed LR6 and the 6.3 update. I’m running a Mac OS 10.11.1. Any idea why it won’t work?

I followed instruction and installed the plugin. It is shown enabled, but I do not see plug in slide bar under Develop panel. Any idea why? I have Windows 10 and Lr 6.3.

I have followed all the steps and it won’t let me open it. The message says that DeHaze cannot function because it was not introducwed until version 6.1. Any thoughts.

If you are using a version of Lightroom older than 6.1 it does not have the dehaze function, and the LRHaze plugin is unable work.

Sorry, not being a mac user myself I can’t advise. If it was Windows I would say to right-click on the zip file and “Extract All”. Maybe Someone with a Mac can help?

I was using this for a while and love it, however when I try to open it now it doesn’t appear but it doesn’t let me do anything else in Lightroom and the only way I can close Lightroom down is with the task manager. I’ve removed it and tried to add it again, but it does the same thing. I’ve also downloaded the newest version and the same thing happens. How can I get this to work again?

It may be I’m not using it properly, but in LRCC the dehaze slider is available in the various radial, gradient, or brush filters. If I’m using it correctly is it possible to create a plugin that would give us dehaze control in those filters?

I’m sorry but LRHAZE only works on the whole image. I have not found a way to make it work on gradients.

I have absolutely no clue on what is involved in writing a functioning plugin, but I’m wondering if the dehaze presets that Prolost has created and is giving away would provide you with any information on what you might need to use to create plugins to works with LR’s filters? Thanks. I do know about the Prolost presets. They work in quite different way to my plugin.
When Lightroom CC added dehaze on gradients I tried to see if I could make a plugin work but I was unable to at the time. Maybe I will have look at it again, but I do not have much hope of it working.

I’ll keep an eye on your site in hopes of you succeeding. I’ve been playing with your Plugin and it works fine for overall dehazing. I’d post an example of a Raw file I played with it on if that was possible (hazy sky and mountains, made the mountains and the sky look like it was crystal clear day).

I stumbled upon PhotoShop Lite for the iPad whilst on holiday and loved the DeHaze function it had.
So I was looking for a similar DeHaze function for my PC version of LightRoom when I got home.

After the plugin is installed using Plugin Manager, you go to the Develop module, select the photo to modify and click the Help menu, select “Plug-in Extras” and click “Dehaze Control” or “Graduated and radial filters” under LRHazeFilters. If you do not see LRHazeFilters from the “Plug-in Extras” menu the install did not work.
It would have been nice if there was a better way to run it, but Lightroom does not give may options.

Sorry for the delay in responding – I have been away from home (taking photos) but with limited internet access.
I have added a “Follow” button on the right of the page to let you easily sign up to receive emails when the blog changes.
On shortcuts: I do not know of a simple way to do it in Windows, but if you have a Mac Wojtek commented “In system preferences add app specific shortcut. Just remember to add 3 spaces before Dehaze Control. LR uses them to indent menu items.”

Regie, What version of Lightroom do you have? Have you checked that the folder you selected in Plugin Manager contains all the files from the zip you downloaded?

No problems on Mac. Works great, you just need to unzip, open the Plugin Manager (File -> Plug-in Manager…) and add (on the left) the LRHazeFilters.lrplugin folder. Same as Windows.

I have installed this on LR 6.14 with Windows 10 and the DeHaze works fine but when I click on Graduated….it displays an empty selection box with an Apply button…

Hi transportandthenaturalworld, You need to create the Graduated, Radial or Adjustment bush (or a number of them) first and then click Help – Plugin extras – Graduated… I hope that then works for you.

Thank you Gary for the plugin. I can get the Dehaze to work, but when I click the graduated, radial and brush… it displays a large empty rectangle with the words apply and cancel. I have LR 6.14.

I get the same but am guessing you need to point to the folder where they reside. That’s what I did with graduated filters from another source so as I only wanted the dehaze I didn’t bother to follow up.

BoogerSnots and transportandthenaturalworld, When using the graduated or radial filter or adjustment brush you need to create the filters or brushes FIRST (no need to change any sliders but you can if you want) THEN select LRHazeFilers – Graduated and radial filters and adjustment brush. The box on the side that you saw will now show the filters you have created on the image and let you adjust the sliders that Lightroom 6 does not display. Unlike with the Dehaze slider you need to click Apply to see the effect of changes you make.
